An ecommerce website is simply a tool - how skilled are you at using it?

We have developed this service to help independent retailers who want to grow their business via ecommerce and who lack the time, knowledge and skills to really make it happen. The services is based around - acquisition, conversion and retention of web customers.

Acquisition: In real terms this is about continual development and use of

  • Social media presence (apparently Twitter is the 3rd largest source of ASOS traffic)
  • Development and distribution of good quality content
  • Management of an affiliate programme
  • Successful SEO/PPC programme and designing effective landing pages, studying bounce rates and page views
  • Voucher code sites

Conversion:

Keeping a close eye on conversion rates (number of visitors divided by number of sales x 100) monitoring site usage, the effectiveness of promotions and value of traffic from various sources and keeping the site up to date with ecommerce best practice.

Examples of things we'd keep in mind and test against:

  • A recent study of conversion rates on 60 ecommerce sites over 6 month period ranged from 0.9% - 3.6%
  • Only 40% of visitors arrive on a websites homepage
  • A third of all visitors land on category and product pages
  • Close to 60% of all product page arrivals leave immediately
  • Over 33% of category level page arrivals leave immediately

Retention:

It's about the CRM platform, how much you know about each customer and how you translate this into profitable campaigns, relevant, timely and targeted - promotions, newsletters, loyalty points etc.

 The service includes:

A website evaluation combined with competitor benchmarking as the starting point.

We can then make recommendations and take action - improving your site and moving your ecommerce operation ahead of your competitors.

This initial work will typically look at usability - design (how it looks), build (how well it works and what the site actually does) and search engine optimisation.

We want to help you establish how well the current site:

  • performs as an online shopping experience - for instance is the site well laid out, are the products well displayed and grouped, is the shopping basket easy to use, is the site secure, what is the conversion rate
  • is optimised for search engines and geared up to convert clicks into customers
  • 'up sales' or 'cross sales' to maximise the value of each visitor

We would benchmark the sites stats (traffic, page visits, duration of time spect on the site, conversion numbers) and performance against industry reports and data.

We want to explore your emarketing operation and evaluate all current activity and identify new emarketing opportunities. For instance have you thought through and implemented any of the following in a professional and measured way?

  • email marketing for new customer acquisition and existing customer contact
  • discounts codes and promotions
  • viral marketing and social media
  • affiliates schemes, affiliate management
  • directories and creative link building
  • pay per click
  • landing pages
  • voucher code sites
  • measurement and analysis of marketing activity, traffic sources and sales value
